公益財団法人東京都歴史文化財団 アーツカウンシル東京とNPO法人粋なまちづくり倶楽部は、神楽坂のまち全体を舞台にした伝統芸能フェスティバル「神楽坂まち舞台・大江戸めぐり2025」を、令和7年5月17日（土）、18日（日）に開催します。本イベントは今回で13回目を迎え、伝統文化の魅力を広く伝えてきました。
江戸の風情が色濃く残る神楽坂は、花柳界とともに芸能が息づいてきた街。一方で、パリの雰囲気も感じられる、日本の伝統と国際色が調和したエリアとしても知られています。「神楽坂まち舞台・大江戸めぐり2025」は、そんな神楽坂の路地や寺社境内、能楽堂、メインストリートなどを舞台に、普段はあまり馴染みがないと感じられる伝統芸能を、より身近に楽しめる機会を提供しています。
新進気鋭の若手から熟練の名手まで、第一線で活躍する多彩な演者が出演。講談、浪曲、義太夫節の語り芸、三味線や尺八、箏の演奏、能や日本舞踊など、日本の伝統芸能の魅力を存分に感じられるプログラムを用意しました。その昔、人々に親しまれた芸能「散楽」を今に蘇らせた「現代散楽」が初登場。毘沙門天や路上で他に類を見ないパフォーマンスを繰り広げます。また、日本の伝統楽器と西洋楽器、コンテンポラリーダンスなど異ジャンルとの共演など、新たな視点から伝統芸能の魅⼒をお届けします。
また、芸者衆との「お座敷遊び体験」や、三味線を奏でながら路地を流す「新内流し」など、神楽坂ならではのプログラムも実施。歴史文化スポットをめぐるスタンプラリーや子ども向けプログラムもあり、幅広い世代の方々にお楽しみいただけます
アンバサダーには日本文学研究者のロバート キャンベル氏を迎えます。神楽坂と伝統芸能への関心をさらに深めていただく役割を担います。

アンバサダーのご紹介
伝統文化への造詣が深く、テレビ出演でもお馴染みの日本文学研究者・ロバート キャンベル氏がアンバサダーに就任。矢来能楽堂のプログラムにゲスト出演し、伝統芸能に対する疑問と魅力を深く掘り下げます。また「神楽坂まち舞台・大江戸めぐり2025」を紹介するティザー映像にも出演し、本イベントの魅力をお伝えします。
神楽坂の魅力
多くの地域が再開発によって変貌した東京において、神楽坂は江戸時代の地割りがほぼそのままに、石畳の路地などが残されてきました。神楽坂花柳界の発展とともに、芸事を重んじる歌舞音曲の師匠たちは神楽坂周辺に稽古場をもち、伝統芸能を継承してきました。また戦前にはいくつもの演芸場があり、話芸なども盛んに行われていました。戦後、神楽坂周辺には「パリの佇まいを彷彿させる」としてフランス人をはじめとした外国人が多く住み、従来の日本文化と調和・融合し独特の風情を生み出しています。昨今ではNPO法人粋なまちづくり倶楽部をはじめ、若い世代のボランティア（集団）や商店会、企業、各店舗などが互いに協力しながら、伝統芸能をはじめとした大小様々な文化イベントを数多く実施しています。多くの文化資産に溢れた神楽坂は、現在では国内外からも大きく注目を集める“まち”となっています。
ボランティアの活躍
「神楽坂まち舞台・大江戸めぐり」は、2013年の初開催以来、地元神楽坂を中心に活動するNPO法人粋なまちづくり倶楽部に登録されたボランティアをはじめ、地元商店街や企業、大学の方々によって支えられてきました。今年も神楽坂をよく知るボランティアが、みなさまをお迎えします。
まち舞台コンシェルジュ
地元のボランティアの中から特に伝統芸能や邦楽に興味をもつ方々を中心とするグループ「まち舞台コンシェルジュ」は、当日の出演者やジャンル、楽器などについて勉強会を重ねてきました。各ライブ会場では、来場者へのご案内のほか、司会者としても活躍。みなさまをおもてなしします。
The Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture) and the NPO Ikina-Machizukuri-Club will host the traditional performing arts festival set throughout the entire town of Kagurazaka, the “Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour 2025”, on Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, 2025. Now in its 13th edition, this event continues to widely showcase the charm of traditional Japanese culture.
Kagurazaka is a district where the spirit of traditional performing arts has flourished alongside the karyukai (the world of the geisha), preserving the rich atmosphere of old Tokyo. At the same time, it is also known as an area where Japanese tradition and international influences harmonize, with a Parisian feel in certain corners. “Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour 2025″ transforms the alleys, temple and shrine grounds, Noh theater, and main streets into performance stages, offering an opportunity for visitors to experience traditional performing arts in an intimate and accessible way.
The festival features a diverse lineup of top-tier performers, from emerging young talents to seasoned masters. The program includes Koudan (storytelling), Rokyoku (narrative singing), Gidayu-bushi (ballad chanting), shamisen, shakuhachi, koto, Noh theater, and Nihon Buyo traditional dance, offering a full immersion into the world of Japanese traditional arts.
This year, for the first time, the festival will showcase “Contemporary Sangaku”, a revival of Sangaku, a form of stage entertainment enjoyed by the people in old times. Unique performances will unfold at Bishamonten Temple and on the streets, unlike anything seen elsewhere. Additionally, the event will explore new perspectives on traditional arts through cross-genre collaborations between Japanese and Western musical instruments, as well as contemporary dance.
Kagurazaka’s signature experiences, such as “Ozashiki Asobi” (geisha parlor games) and “Shinnai Nagashi” (wandering shamisen musicians performing through the alleys), will also take place. Visitors can enjoy a historical and cultural stamp rally, as well as special programs for children, making the festival enjoyable for all generations.
The ambassador for the festival, Japanese literature scholar Robert Campbell, will further deepen the audience’s appreciation for both Kagurazaka and traditional performing arts.

Introduction of the Ambassador
Robert Campbell, a Japanese literature scholar with a deep knowledge of traditional culture and a well-known TV personality, has been appointed as an ambassador for the “Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour 2025”. As a guest for the program at the Yarai Noh Theater, he will give a deep dive into the questions and attractions of traditional performing arts. He will also appear in the teaser video introducing the event, showcasing it’s charm.
Charm of Kagurazaka
While many areas of Tokyo have been transformed by redevelopment, Kagurazaka has retained its Edo period layout, with stone-paved alleys and other features. Along with the development of the Kagurazaka’s Geisha district, masters of the art of song, dance, and music have had their practice halls in the Kagurazaka area and have inherited the traditional performing arts. In the prewar period, there were also a number of entertainment halls where storytelling and other forms of entertainment were actively performed. In the post-war period, many French and other foreigners have lived in the Kagurazaka area, which is said to be “The atmosphere of Paris” and has created a unique taste by harmonizing and blending with the traditional Japanese culture. The various sizes of events, including traditional performing arts are held by NPO Ikimachi Club, young volunteer groups, shopping associations, businesses, and stores those have been cooperating with. Today, Kagurazaka, with its many cultural assets, has become a “town” that attracts a great deal of interests from both within Japan and abroad.
Volunteers in Action
Since the first Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour was held in 2013, it has been supported by volunteers registered with the NPO Ikimachi Club, a non-profit organization that operates mainly in the local Kagurazaka area, as well as people from local shopping districts, businesses, and universities. Volunteers who know Kagurazaka well will welcome you again this year.
Machibutai Concierge [Street Stage Concierge]
The “Machibutai Concierge,” a group of local volunteers who with a particular interest in traditional and Japanese performing arts, has held a series of study sessions on the performers, genres, instruments, towards to this event. At each live venue, in addition to providing information to visitors, we will also serve as the host of the event and welcome you with hospitality.
