Bishamonten Zenkoku-ji Temple – Evening Concert

夜灯に浮かぶ毘沙門天善國寺本堂の階段を舞台に展開される「夜会」。獅子舞や曲芸など賑々しい江戸太神楽、境内に響きわたる⼗七弦箏の⾳⾊。そして古くから伝わる散楽を今に生き生きと蘇らせる「現代散楽」。伝統芸能への様々なアプローチが交錯します。

Set against the softly glowing lanterns, the steps of the main hall of Bishamonten Zenkoku-ji Temple become the stage for this enchanting “Evening Concert”. The event features the lively Edo Daikagura, with shishimai (lion dance) and acrobatics, alongside the resonant melodies of the 17-string Koto echoing through the temple grounds. Additionally, “Gendai Sangaku” (Contemporary Sangaku) breathes new life into Sangaku, an ancient form of stage entertainment beloved since before the Heian period (794–1185).
