Set against the softly glowing lanterns, the steps of the main hall of Bishamonten Zenkoku-ji Temple become the stage for this enchanting “Evening Concert”. The event features the lively Edo Daikagura, with shishimai (lion dance) and acrobatics, alongside the resonant melodies of the 17-string Koto echoing through the temple grounds. Additionally, “Gendai Sangaku” (Contemporary Sangaku) breathes new life into Sangaku, an ancient form of stage entertainment beloved since before the Heian period (794–1185). Experience the intersection of various approaches to traditional performing arts.
